Let’s talk trends . . .
2024 has built upon the ethos we saw in 2023 surrounding aesthetic tweakments, whereby treatments such as dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections remain two of the most popular choices for patients (and will likely maintain that status for at least the next few years).
2024, however, has seen a real focus on skin health, wellness, and personalised approaches to aesthetic concerns rather than a one-size-fits-all. With a strong leaning towards a holistic movement, looking at the underlying causes of our aesthetic concerns and addressing them on a cellular and restorative level, rather than a quick fix via a superficial level.
2025, we believe, will be a combination of technology meets nature, with an emphasis on a more natural aesthetic whilst layering treatments.
With 2025 around the corner, here are 3 of the key treatments we love and think will continue to dominate the aesthetics industry in 2025
1. Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are a new concept of regenerative medicine, which promotes cell turnover, improves skin elasticity and hydration, heals sun-damaged skin, and improves photoaging and acne scarring, giving a more nourished, healthy, and revitalised complexion.
They come as an injectable serum derived from the DNA of salmon or trout sperm (very similar to human DNA). They are proteins that act like messenger molecules. Known as âbio stimulatorsâ, they kick-start skin regeneration to repair and replace the damage that comes with ageing.
They communicate with our cells to increase the number of fibroblasts, the cells that produce everything we need for bouncy, stretchy skin: collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. These, in turn, then get churned out in greater amounts. On top of that, polynucleotides are anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, protecting from internal and external damage.
Some doctors describe them as âmedicine for the skinâ and they are, in more ways than one: âPolynucleotides were originally medicinally used for inflammatory skin conditions such as severe eczema and psoriasis,â says Acharya. They have been used in tissue and cartilage regenerative medicine for 40 years and are backed by more than 90 clinical publications, so they are pretty reliable âgood guysâ when it comes to treating your skin. Watch this space for more applications in 2025.
2. Sofwave
Sofwave is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses ultrasound technology to tighten skin, reduce wrinkles, and treat cellulite. Using Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB) technology to emit ultrasound beams that heat the skin’s mid-dermal layer, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which can result in tighter, firmer skin.Â
This treatment is the perfect allrounder, it can be used on the face, neck, decolletage, upper arms, tummy, and thighs. It can treat fine lines and wrinkles, cellulite, and loose skin.
The amazing thing, though, is that it delivers visible results after a single treatment, but it can take up to nine months to see the full tightening effects. Best suited to people with mild-to-moderate skin laxity, such as sagging and wrinkles. It can also be used preventatively by younger patients who want to bank collagen.
3. Non-invasive Radio Frequency
This is one of our favourite treatments. EMFACE is the first device on the market to utilise the patented combination of synchronised radio frequency and HIFESTM technologies to firm up the framework of your face.
Synchronised radiofrequency heating remodels and smooths the skin by increasing the levels of collagen and elastin fibres, and HIFES⢠selectively tones the face-elevating muscles to restore and elevate support of facial features, creating a truly non-invasive treatment.
EMFACE is known for its effectiveness, but you might be wondering if it truly lives up to its claims. The evidence strongly supports that it does indeed deliver on its promises. Patients who undergo Emface treatments can expect a range of positive outcomes that are long-lasting and non-invasive so no downtime.
To concludeâŚ
There is so much out there that is relatively painless, with no healing time and in some cases; instant results.
